Text Box: Getaway
The proposal that I will never forget. It was our 4th anniversary & we celebrated with a romantic dinner at a local swanky restaurant. During dinner, Jenson surprised me with the present of my life. It was a pair of airline tickets & an itinerary for a 3 week holiday to Hong Kong, Bangkok & Phuket. The holiday was 2 months away & it couldn’t have come quickly enough.

1st stop, 5 days in Hong Kong, & Jensen was my perfect tour guide, showing me where he grew up & taking me to all the quaint little streets & eateries where tourists don’t venture into. 2nd stop, 3 days in Bangkok, with pre-arranged local tours & visits to all the hot spots & more shopping ! It was great having my personal bag boy & guide with me 24/7.

Final destination, 2 weeks in Phuket to unwind & relax from all the shopping & sight seeing ! Day 1, check into our hotel at Karon Beach & off to the pool for Pina-Coladas & sun-bathing. Dinner time was rolling around & Jenson suggested we have a pre-dinner walk along the beach opposite our hotel. The beach was quiet with the exception of a couple of joggers & beach vendors. I spotted a lone beach table & 2 chairs near the water’s edge & as Jenson led me to the setting, a waiter walks up to us & I immediately tell him, ‘No we are just out for a stroll,’ but before I could finish, Jenson nods to the waiter & leads me to the candle lit table & pulls out 1 of the chairs for me.

My heart must have skipped a couple of beats when I realized what was going on around me. The waiter poured us champagne as we sat & watched the sunset along the beach. Jenson looked a little nervous & was drinking his champagne awfully fast.

Then he got down on 1 knee & told me (through tears & nerves) all the reasons why we should spend the rest of our lives together & asked for my hand in marriage. The whole evening was beautiful beyond believe: the beach, our table, my favourite food, champagne, wine, the most gorgeous Tiffany solitaire diamond ring, and the most thoughtful (& sneaky) fiancé’.

That night I rang my parents & told them of the exciting news, but Jenson had beaten me to the punch, as he had already asked my father for his permission before the trip! I found out later that many of my closet friends already knew about the trip & were in on the whole deal, I was probably the last to know about it !

On water’s edge
Dennis’ proposal in my opinion rates as one of the most romantic proposals ever.
Our good friends, Damien and Angela, were in on the entire surprise. They told us that they had a gift certificate to a restaurant on the beach in Manly. When we showed up around dusk. They called to say they were running about 45 minutes late and that they would meet us there. Since we had just parked at the beach (by the restaurant) Dennis suggested we take a stroll on the beach. I still didn't suspect anything at this point. It was pretty windy out so I was looking down while walking so that my hair didn't blow in my face!

We finally got to this private cove and Dennis just stopped suddenly. I looked up and saw a red sheet laid out with white rose petals scattered all over it. Just behind it were two lit flame torches, a picnic basket with a bottle of champagne and two champagne flutes. He even thought to pack two sweaters as it was a cool and windy evening! As soon as I saw it I immediately began crying—happy tears of course! He positioned me to face the ocean and he got down on one knee and laid out all of the reasons he loved me and why he wanted to ask my hand in marriage. Then he popped the question.

We sat on the beach and drank champagne while people walking on the beach yelled, "Congrats!" and, "Good job, man." Once the sun set the torches illuminated the entire cove and it was breathtaking!

Dennis then told me that we had dinner plans at our favourite restaurant Whitewater in Manly. Well, I was in for another surprise. He told me that we didn't have dinner plans with our friends and, in fact, just wanted to have a romantic dinner alone.

We arrived at the restaurant and our friends were there waiting for us and immediately started clapping when we walked in! I was in a state of shock all night! One of the biggest surprises was that that Damien had helped Dennis set up the whole beach setting that afternoon and while Dennis was proposing he stood from afar and took pictures of the entire proposal! (So we now have pictures to document the night).

Sweet Honey
He showed up at my office around 5:00, dressed in a Winnie the Pooh costume, complete with big head. He played the Pooh song on a Fisher Price tape recorder, read me a poem he found on the Internet called "Next To Me", took off the head, got down on one knee, presented me with the ring and asked me to be his wife.

B & B Special
He took me to a wonderful dinner on my birthday and told me to pack a bag. After dinner we went to a beautiful bed and breakfast. When we walked in the room there was a dozen roses and champagne chilling. There was a fire place with a beautifully upholstered chair in front of it.

He told me to sit in the chair while he lit the fire. He gave me my birthday card in which he professed his love and wrote of how special this day was to him. After I read the card he asked me if I knew why this day was so special. I said, "Why?" He kneeled down if front of me and proposed. And gave me a beautiful ring that he picked out himself - I nearly passed out. We cried and hugged for hours. It was wonderful.

White Winter
He planned a weekend snowboarding trip at Thredbo, where we stayed at a cute cottage. On the first night, a snow storm hit, but it was beautiful! He took me for a walk in the knee-high snow, brought a blanket and camera. He had me sit on the blanket for a picture, and then pulled out the ring.

After I said yes, he pulled out two wine glasses and a bottle of our favourite wine. Beautiful!
