Special Memory

“My Dad was chauffeuring the girls and I to the church, I was sitting in the middle and in each hand I held my friend’s hand. I felt very fortunate two have to close friends by my side.”

There are many more memories. I remember whispering to David during the ceremony, I remember saying our vows and looking at each other at key moments.

Advice/Comments

Enjoy every moment of the day; make sure you both share the responsibility of planning and implementing the wedding activities.

Remember during the speeches to talk about why you love each other, the wedding thank yous are important, but speeches should be about funny stories, tales and romance.

Remember ‘the most important thing in life is about love and being loved’.

Funny Moment

I remember repeating the words “quick quick slow” during our wedding waltz and then getting a little lost with our footwork, but it didn’t matter, no one noticed.

Text Box: Ceremony
Father Dermid married David and I in a lovely, quaint stone church in Queanbeyan (St Gregory’s, Queanbeyan ). The ceremony was beautiful, positive, happy, fun and lovely – we could feel the energy surrounding us. It was a special day and I now appreciate why this ritual has been celebrated time and time again.

Gown
I wore a lovely ivory dress with tiny pink embroidered flowers scattered on the bust and back of the dress. Misty from Annabel’s Bridal Studio was fantastic and helped me to find me the perfect gown.

Reception venue
After the photographs, we arrived at The Lobby to be greeted by a room full of love, positiveness and well wishes. U2’s Beautiful Day was playing in the background and as we entered the room our guests cheered and I felt people’s love in my heart - it was a humbling experience.

We chatted with friends and family, dined on delicious food while piano music played softly in the background. The speeches were funny, moving and heartfelt. David was the man of the hour. He gave a terrific speech one that I’ll always look back on with fondness. I was so proud of him. After the speeches we had the bridal waltz to Peter Gabriel’s In Your Eyes, and then everyone hit the dance floor and danced the night away.

In the lead up to the wedding, the staff from The Lobby were fabulous! The Food and Service on the night was fantastic (lots of our guests commented on the delicious food)! The Lobby venue is warm and inviting and I highly recommend them.

Flowers
I decided to go with Capital Flowers in Oakes Estate, as they are a wholesale florist that always prepares impressive bouquets.

Hair and make up
Kylie from Napoleon made me up for my special day. She was terrific. The girls and I had our hair done by Next in Braddon, a trendy Canberra salon. I highly recommend both suppliers.

Cake
Lorraine from Annie’s Cakes prepared our wedding cake. She was very sweet to me and invited me to the back of her store to flip through cake magazines to select the perfect cake. She always made me feel welcomed in her store and provided good advice about cakes.

Photography
I had two photographers. Nick Barrows a professional photographer and family friend agreed to shoot our wedding. Richard Tuffin an up and coming photographer also captured our day.

Music and entertainment
Throughout dinner instrumental piano songs were played. I love piano music. My mum plays the piano, I play and this inspired my choice of evening music. Once the formalities were over, Vinn our DJ from Ardanien Entertainment played classic 80s hits as well as today’s rhythms. Vinn’s attention to detail and understanding of our music preference made the night extra special.
