History

Nathan and I met when we were 18 years, through his cousin(s), my best friends at the time.  We were mates for 5-6 years, before we decided to proceed with something more!

Proposal

Surprise proposal was made after breakfast on the beach of Ulladulla.  I should have seen it coming, because Nathan rarely wants to walk on the beach for ‘no particular reason’!

Wedding theme

Relaxed and fun!

Preparation

I took a year to fiddle about with bookings etc. Thanks to my Mum and Dad, all the little bits and pieces were finalised the week before.

Advice/Comments

“Make sure your bridesmaids carry a tissue for you!  It’s very embarrassing when your nose is running while you’re taking your vows!”

“Decide on your dream wedding regardless of the money factor, then try to achieve it in the most cost effective manner”

“Don’t expect that every ‘husband-to-be’ is going to be as excited as you are.  Accept that the ‘planning’ is often a girl thing, and employ your girlfriends to be excited for you!”

Funniest Moment

The circle that everyone formed at the end of the night, was very special.  I remember the music being played at the time, was ‘Catch my Disease’….I thought it was very fitting! In a fun way.

Text Box: Ceremony
Deacon Joe Blackwell married us at St Francis Xavier Church in Hall. The length of the ceremony was perfect and the church was small, so it felt like an intimate country wedding, which was important to us.

Gown
Lily of Lily Designs could honestly make anything, just by sighting a picture of what you have in mind. I looked everywhere to buy a dress, but it was important to me, to have it very simple, so I ended up paying less than $800 for one to be made.

Reception venue
The Rydges Eagle Hawk staff were very helpful and we stayed overnight, and so did the majority of our guests. It meant we could all have breakfast together the following morning which was nice.

Flowers
The staff at Kippax Florist were lovely. I didn’t have a really good idea of what I wanted, and they helped me select flowers that suited my budget.

Hair and make-up
Myself and my bridesmaids had our hair and make-up done at Hairdressing Salon in Kippax. I liked that both of these things were done in the same location, it was convenient and we didn’t have to rush.

Photography
I asked my friend Glenn to do our Photography and he did a fabulous job! Sure, you can tell that they’re not ‘professional’, but as we’re not big ‘photo lovers’ anyway, it wasn’t a concern to us. We just wanted a couple to give to our Mums, and a couple for our wall. What was really great was that he created a DVD of the photos he did, and put it to the music we had at our wedding. That was fabulous!

Music and entertainment
We hired a juke box , and while I was nervous, that it wouldn’t get played, and no one would dance….it was a ‘hit’!! Everyone enjoyed using it, and the dance floor was rarely bare.
